BOTANICAL kPARDE'y The Flora and Ethnobotany of Cat Island, Bahamas Willard Sherman Turrell Herbarium (MU) Species Lycopersicon esculentum Au: Mill. Family Solanaceae Common Name Tomato Description Herbaceous shrub with yellow flowers. Foliage with a distinct solanaceous smell. Location/Habitat East of Arthur's Town, found along the development roads behind and southeast of the Arthur's Town airstrip. Development roads are cut and ends in a trenched marina, but there is no development. Disturbed roadside cultivated field. Latitude 24°38’43”N Longitude 75°38’42” W Uses/Comments Green tomatoes are mashed and rubbed in a babies mouth to treat "Trash" (Thrush or Candidiasis). Not previously listed as occurring on Cat Island (Correll & Correll, 1982). Collector(s) Collection No Laurel R.
