ACERACEAE Acer negundo L.	Female.
Tree 10 m. tall, 30 cm. in diameter, leaning,
Young twigs bright green. Some old sterile fruit still
persisting. Flowers not as showy as those of nearby
male» tree (no. 1671«). Pedicels and tips of wings red;
ovary green; stigmas yellowish green.
Floodplain forest along Pine River and Spring Creek,
with Acer saccharinup, Ulmus americana (now mostly
dead Pop ulus deltoides, Zanthoxylum americanum.
WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 2 miles SE of Richland Center.
