Margin of mesic woodland with Quercus wislizeni,
Qu. agrifolia, Umbellularia californica, Sambucus mexi-
cana, Toxicodendron diversilobum, Ribes californicum
hesperium, Dryopteris arguta, Lathyrus laetiftorus, etc.
Locally common trees to ca 8 m tall; sap white;
representative leaves collected to compensate for small-
leaved specimens usually collected by botanists.
