Betula lenta L.
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, next to Paumonek Drive,
overhanging the road. Fruit color is in dull green. Bark gray; plate-like.
Wintergreen smell when twigs broken. Growing at the edge of an Oak-
Hickory Mesic Woodland with Artemisia vulgaris, Alliaria petiolata, and
Acer platanoides.
