U.S.A. NEW York, Suffolk Co.: Froehlich Farm Preserve, Town of
Huntington, Long Island, New York. Ca. 200 ft north of the Long
Island Railroad tracks. 40o50'14.37"N 73°26'19.27"W, 180 ft. elev.
Single medium sized tree to 20 ft. Bark smooth and gray. Twigs with
pleasing wintergreen smell when broken. In dense brush, with little
understory growth, no young trees or seedlings. With Malus, Betula
pendula, Eleagnus umbellata, Alliaria petiolata, Lonicera japonica,
and Juniperus virginiana.
