United States of America. California. Mono Co. Glass Mountain Region: North Canyon, appx. 750m south of Highway 120, due south of Granite Mountain. (Cowtrack Mountain quad).

Habitat
Deep W-E canyon running parallel to Highway 120, cutting through Bishop tuff rhyolite. Heavily grazed canyon bottom with dry stream and soft pumice/ rhyolite soil. With Pinus monophylla, small P. jeffryi, Salix, Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus, C. nauseosus, Purshia tridentata, Tetradymia canescens, Cryptantha confertiflora, Hesperostipa comata.

Description
Dominant large shrub in canyon bottom/ dry streambed. To 5m high. Bark white, leaves darker above. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
