Used Google Maps – Earth and Map Views to locate Rio Coutinho within Guarapuava. Used the Google Maps – Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the mouth of Rio Coutinho (confluence of Rio Jordão and Rio Coutinho, at -25.455687, -51.654966) and the headwaters of Rio Coutinho (approximated through the dense forest cover, at -25.236018, -51.429057), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Coutinho nearest to the midpoint of the line; used the Google Maps – What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of Rio Coutinho, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps – Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent of the river by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river. Input coordinates, coordinate precision (.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), linear extent (17040.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path).
