Calamus platyacanthus	“song”
Stems solitary, 15 m tall, 4 cm diameter with leaf sheaths. Sheaths
yellow, with reddish-brown tomentum, densely covered with
yellow, flat, downward-pointing spines; knees present; ocreas
obscure; petioles 3 cm long; rachis 160 cm long with 22 regularly
arranged pinnae per side. Pistillate plant; rachillae zig-zag, to 5 cm
long.
