Description
Lvs very deep green above, yellowish-green below. Bracts red, outer green-tipped. Hypanthium lobes yellow, covered with golden hairs. Corolla purple-nigrescent. Filaments purple-red, anthers pale yellow, style crimson. Outer petals never expand, remaining clasped forming tube with slightly narrowed orifice. Fls. pendant. It was found that a slight pressure or disturbance of corolla "tube" caused a spurt of pollen under dry atmospheric conditions.
