stricted at joints, gradually curved at apex, neither attenuate nor capitate; cells 4-8.5
mie. in length; transverse walls often marked by two refringen, grannies; apical cell
rotund; calypitra none.

somewhat torulose, with apex neither attenuate nor capitate; cells 3-6 mie. in length;
protoplasm finely granular, sometimes interspersed with large granules; transverse
walls usually not granulate; apical cell convex, not capitate; no calyptra.
Mixed with other algae, floating in lagoon on beach.
Seaconnot, near Hilo, Hawaii, Hawaiian Islands.
