Plant mass slimy, expanded, lamellose, 8 mm. thick, the upper layers dull green, the internal layers whitish; trichomes 2-2.5 mic. in diameter, blue-green, straight, not attenuate at apex, not constricted at joints; cells 3.3-67 mic in length; apical cell rotund; calyptra none. Laguna, Lake Amatitlan. Altitude 3,950 feet. Guatemala, Central America. Coll. W. A. Kellerman (no. 4304), 8 F 1905. Plant mass 2 cm. in thickness, 5 cm. in diameter, bluish-green to brownish-red in color, impregnated with lime, firm, somewhat hard; filaments curved, intricate or arranged parallel with each other; sheaths extremely delicate; trichomes 1-2 mic. in diameter, not constricted at joints, with straight apex, neither attenuate nor capitate; cells 1.5-5 mic. in length; apical cell conical; calyptra none.
