Plant mass caespitose-floccose, blue-green, becoming dark-colored; filaments, 8-10 mic. in diameter, repeatedly branched; false branches erect-patent, flexuously curved; sheaths membranaceous, thin, usually inflated at base of branches, hyaline or yellowish ; trichomes 6-8 mic. in diameter, cylindrical, Çlue-green; cells equal to or longer than the diameter; heterocysts 1-5 in number.
