  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Caracurú (synonymous with Igarapé Caracurú) in município Almeirim, Pará. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Caracurú, a tributary of Rio Jarí. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the mouth of Rio Caracurú (confluence of Rio Caracurú and Rio Jarí) to the approximate source of the river (approximated through the dense forests), then halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of Rio Caracurú. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, on the adjacent shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Caracurú, 33880.7 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Referencing Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path).
