The forms passing under the name of C. gracilis are many,
and only very careful and prolonged study will ever determine
what are stages of growth, what environmental forms, and what
good species and varieties. The material here distributed ap-
proaches C. hirta Kuetz., while that distributed as R B.-A., No.
724 is very near C. flexuosa (Griff.) Harv.
