Phycotheca Boreali-Americana. Collins, Holden, and Setchell. 697. Gallitfiamnion dasytrichum Mont. Montague, Voyage de la Bouite, p. 51, 1844. J. G. Agardh, Sp. Aig., Vol. II, p. 59,1851; Vol. Ill, p. 47, 1876. Indian River Inlet, May, 1899. MRS* G. A. HALL, This species has apparently not been observed since its discovery, on the shores of Brazil, in the first half of this century; through the kindness of Dr. E. Bornet, Mrs. Hall’s specimens have been compared with the type, and their identity determined. The outgrowths of the cortical layer are so luxuriant that if we accept Agardh’s limitation of the genus Spong- ocladia, this species would be better called Spongocladia dasytricha. F. S.
