Much resembles Ulothrix flacca (Dlliw.) Thuret in appearance, also in
place and manner of growth; but differs in the not infrequent branching, and
in the occasional occurrence of filaments two or three cells wide. Large
motionless spores, each formed from the whole contents of a cell, issuing
through a hole in the cell wall, were formed in abundance, sometimes from
every ceil in a filament, which remained quite empty.	F. S .C.
