Distribution
Phycotheca Boreali-Americana. Collins, Holden, and Setcbeil. 181, BatrachospeiUHn Decaisneanum swt Sirodot, Les Batrachospermes, pp. 214-216, PI. I, flg. and PI. X, flgs. 1-10, 1884. On the stone wall of a spring of cold water , Middlesex Fells, Mass., March & April, 1890. F. S. COLLINS. Although the form distributed grew in a spring Instead of in rivulets in peaty regions, yet it seems to agree so well with the descriptions that it is distributed under this name. The species is distinguished from others of the moniliforme section by its discoid verticils, its very small cystocarps, by the very long and abundant hairs, and by its being very gelatinous. W. A.
