Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the place along BA 001 closest to a point exactly 5 km S from the approximate geographic center of the city of Alcobaça, in Mun. Alcobaça, Bahia. Using Google Maps-Satellite View, located BA 001, and the city of Alcobaça. Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found coordinates for the approximate geographic center of the city of Alcobaça. Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps), found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the city of Alcobaça, by measuring from the point at the approximate geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of the city. Input coordinates (-17.5266927 -39.1938972), Direction (S), Distance (5 km) linear extent (2.15091 km), Distance Precision (1 km), and Measurement Error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the preliminary coordinates and final uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: offset at a heading). Lastly, used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find final coordinates for the point along BA 001 closest to the preliminary offset coordinates calculated by MANIS (-17.57187 -39.1938972). Used the uncertainty output directly from MaNIS.
