United States of America. California. Los Angeles Co. Liebre Mountains, northwestern end of the range on the ridgetop and upper slopes of the southern flank of Apple Canyon.

Habitat
Steep, mostly mesic slopes. Open woodland of Pinus monophylla, Juniperus californica, and scattered Quercus john-tuckeri. More xeric openings with scrub of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Arctostaphylos glauca, and Yucca whipplei. Common. Sedimentary substrate weathering to decomposed granite or sandy soils.

Arborescent shrub, this plant mostly male, but some female cones developed too. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
