Frond very soft and gelatinous in substance, decompound-pinnate, distich-
ous, corticated in lower portions; branchlets whorled around the nodes,
dichotomous; cystocarps globose, terminal on shorter branches; spores
pear-shaped, terminal on radiating filaments; tetragonidia triangularly
divided, very numerous, scattered along the ultimate branchlets.
Common on the reefs at low tide.. Washed constantly by waves.
Waianae, Oahu, Territory of Hawaii.

The plants are filmy and fern-like in appearance, always of a peculiar
brownish-green color. The specimens distributed are those bearing
tetragonidia.
