On rocky slope. With pinyon, juniper and sagebrush. Common. Gray, silt loam soil, pH ca. 7.8.

Description
Corollas pale red-violet; staminode hairs yellow; anthers violet, turning tan with age; plants forming low mats to 4 dm broad, with few inflorescences developed. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
