They are only 4-6 times regularly dichotomously branched, attaining a height of 7 cm. The fragile thallus is shortly stalked and distinctly articulate. The internodes are cylindrical or elliptical obovoid, to 4 mm. diam. and 2 cm. long. The assimilating tissue consists of two layers of parenchymatous cells bound by a layer of small obconical or lens-shaped cells which adhere compactly to each other forming an epidermal layer, appearing 5-6 sided in surface view. The central axis consists of slender, medullary filaments, running very loosely. The plant is light rosy red in color. HAB. On rocks in the lower litoral belt. Tsing lan Kang, Hainan, in June (Tseng 110U); Little Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in June (Tseng 2054). DISTR.
