The thallus arises from a very short, cylindrical and villous
stipe and is regularly dichotomously branched, branches having
rather wide angle. The internodes are complanate, to 8 mm. long,
1.5-2.0 mm. broad and 200-300/1 thick. The assimilating tissue
consists of 2-3 layers of parenchymatous cells from the outermost
layer of which arise the assimilating filaments, each with a unicellular
pedicel. The terminal cells of these filaments are obovoid, 25-30/1
broad and 35-45/* long. The central hyphal filaments are about
10-15/i diam. The color of the plant is of a light reddish brown.
