This beautiful Ulva looks like a broken network and reminds one
of the brown alga, Hydrodathms clathmtus (Bory) Howe. The meshes
arc formed by the local decaying of the cells. In surface view, the
cells appear polygonal and are about 25-26^ diam. Fertile cells con-
tain 16 zoospores each.
HAB. Commonly found, floating in pools or entangled among
larger seaweeds, e.g., Sargassum, Hormosira, etc., Pratas Island, in
August (Tseng llfj.r>).
DIS'l R. Red Sea; Ceylon; Malay Archipelago; Formosa; Ryukyu.
Widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific regions.
