Notes: axial internodes in fertile whorls reduced to nodal dimensions,
resulting in compact heads,
rays once furcate, primary rays veryshort;
dactyls two or three, abruptly aoute pointed with marked apiculate
tip
gametangia generally with geminate oogonia and a rare antheridium
at fertile branchlet furcation;
oogonium measured 715 x 572 micra,
ooronula small, early deciduous, the apical portions
of the convolutions swelling greatly into globose
knobs
oospore black in maturity, about 465 x 428 microns (but larger
ones seen), with 5-6 (mostly 5) promin&nt ridges; membrane
smooth to irregularly granulate
antheridia rare (specimen protandrous)on young branchlets,
515 - 680 microns in diameter.
