Clump-forming sub-shrub, occasional, flowers yellow, older
heads with reflexed ray petals. Growing in a moderately
disturbed dry prairie on a west-facing slope, in
gravelly/rocky loam (Touhey-Argabak-Rock outcrop
complex, 30-65% slopes; ashy over loamy, glassy over
mixed, superactive, mesic Vitritorrandic Durixerolls to
loamy-skeletal, mixed, superactive, mesic Lithic Argixerolls)
with Achillea millefolium, Achnatherum occidentale,
Agropyron cristatum subsp. pectinatum, Arenaría capillaris
subsp. americana, Artemisia tridentata, A. tripartita,
Astragalus lyallii, Balsamorhiza sagittata, Bromus
squarrosus, B. tectorum, Centaurea melitensis, Chaenactis
douglasii var. douglasii, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Crepis
atribarba subsp. originalis, Erigeron filifolius, Eriogonum
heracleioides, Linaria genistifolia subsp. dalmatica, Lupinus
sericeus subsp. sericeus, Poa bulbosa, Pseudoroegneria
spicata subsp. inermis, Sisymbrium altissimum, Tetradymia
canescens & Tragopogon sp. To the N. side of Mud Springs
