LIEBRE MOUNTAIN: vicinity of West Summit
(construed as knoll ca 85 m S of intersection of sections
3,4,9,10). Liebre Mountain 7.5'USGS Quadrangle. T7N
R17W. Elevation ca 5500-5605 feet.

Summit area with a mosaic of woodland (Quercus
kelloggii, Q. chrysolepis), chaparral, and grassland.

E base of the knoll; herbaceous perennial from a taproot ca
3-4 cm below the soil surface, semi-rhizomatous stems growing
laterally 4-9 cm before emerging above soil; scattered in open
grassland, forming small clumps; rays bluish-lavender; disk
flowers golden-yellow; phyllaries largely strigose but also
glandular, 0.5-0.7 mm broad. Locally associated with Elymiis
elyinoides, E. glaucus glaucus, Poa secunda s.I., Bromiis
carinatus, B. tectorum, B. diandriis, Asclepias eriocarpa,
Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Corethrogyne filaginifolia, etc.
