Plants much branched; without cortication and without lime incrustation;
leaves made up of from 2 to 8 cells, ending in a crown of two or three
mucronate cells; monoecious; oogonia and antheridia produced usually at
almost all the nodes of the leaves; antheridia 225-300 mic. in diameter;
oogonia 672-490 mic. in length and 308-640 mic. in width.

Growing in short thick tufts in sand near edge of lake in three inches of
water.

East end of Pike lake, twelve miles from Duluth, Minn.
