On bed of old access logging road, now
abandoned, in open, among Ceanothus and mixed
conferous, oak, madrone woods; on serpentine soil.

Plants forming a dense patch 2 x 2 m, 1/3 of the
patch with rayless heads, the remainder with lavender
ravs.
