Cell of moderate size, about one half longer than broad, truncate-elliptical, semicell apices depressed, the sides curved, the basal angles rounded sinus linear; wall moderately heavy, sparsely and finely punctulate, the faces markedly internally thickened in a refractive lenticular area about two fifths oi the diameter of the semicell. (type); 148, 'l'he Tableland. 7/ille (1924) figures from the Antarctic; a smaller form with slightly thickened sides, without distinctive name.
