Whitman County: East slope of Hole in the Ground Canyon,
10.5 mi. n of St. John. Along Belsby Road, 1.6 mi. e of Long
Road jet. SI 3 T20N R41E. Wooded canyon slope dominated by
Pinus ponderosa. Associated species include Pseudotsuga
menziesii, Calamagrostis rubescens, Bromus tectorum, &
Holodiscus discolor. Elevation 1950 ft. Slope 20°.

Aspect WNW. Substrate basalt. Plants uncommon on
mossy bank. Ligulate flowers yellow. Roots with milky sap.
