RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN
OF THE NATIVE PLANTS OF CALIFORNIA No. 10372

NametCHAENACTIS MACRANTHA D.C. Eaton

Other notes:The individual flowers of each head in this
species are exceptionally long & distinctive for the genus.
Their number per head is somewhat less than most other
species. During the day the flowers are closely aggregated
in each head, but in the late afternoon(such as when this
collection was made) the individual fls. flare apart in the
head. This feature gives each plant a very different day
and night appearance.
