  • Collector(s)

    O. K. Miller 15257 with Hope Miller, 29 Jun 1976

  • Location

United States of America. Idaho. Payette Co. Payette National Forest.

  • Habitat

    In moss on ground.

  • Description

Approximately between 8 Jul 1965 through 29 Jun 1976, Dr. Miller applied the epithet "monticola" to specimens that perhaps should have been labeled as "Psilocybe montana," if not "Psathyrella monticola." Other specimens in the period are labeled as "Psilocybe montana." Specimen notes for collections under either name give moss as the substrate, which is confirmed for Psilocybe montana. Its common name is "mountain moss Psilocybe." Substrate for holotype of Psathyrella monticola is "wet ground in burn area." Beginning with a collection on 9 Jul 1982, Dr. Miller used "P. montana" more consistently for specimens found in moss.
