Locally abundant but confined to residual patches of shallow turf, not found on the gravelly substrate typical of the site. Rays ranging from deep violet to white. This locality is only a few miles as the crow flies, from the original locality, Berthoud Pass, of Tweedy of 1903, the type of A. culminis A Nels. 24 July 1992 W. A Weber & Esbem Warncke 18495 Herbarium COLO (Boulder)
