Flora of the Paumonek Wetland. Long Island Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, at the north edge of the site, on the southern curb of Jericho Turnpike. Stems purple-brown; flowers yellow. At the roads edge in a weedy area, large aggregate gravel, near roadside runoff area. Growing at the edge of an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Cichorium intybus, Phragmites australis, Oenothera biennis and Artemisia vulgaris. Matthew C.
