13.5 mi. N of Whitefish on FR 1658, ca. 1.1 mi. from jct. of Upper Whitefish Lake Rd. Montane forest dominated by Abies grandis, Abies bifolia, Picea engelmannii, & Larix occidenatlis. Understory plants include Acer glabrum, Cornus stolonifera, & Xerophyllum tenax. Aspect W. Substrate metamorphic. Slope 10%. Plants occasional in sunny openings. Rays & disk yellow.
