"This locality is near junction of Socrates Mine road with Pine Flat-Middletown road on ridge west of canyon of Big Sulphur Creek. The Napa-Lake county line is on the ridge east of the Canyon of Big Sulphur Creek" -- H. K. Sharsmith, 1952.
