Habitat
Open scrub, trees to 8 m; moist slopes, small plateaus. Clusia, Melastomataceae, Malpighiaceae, Arecaceae, and Asteraceae dominants. Occasional bamboo thickets. Sandstone talus and boulders.

Description
Shrub. Trailing shrub; stems with black to red hairs; inflor. rachis wine-red. Leaves light green with purple veins below, green to red green above, coriaceous. Calyx black red; corolla light purple; anthers cream; filaments dark pink; style grading white to dark pink distally; fruit dark metallic blue, subglobose, to 0.6 x 1.0 cm. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
