Plants perennial from stoloniferous rhizomes; stems spreading-hirsutulous, to 70 cm tall; involucre to 6 mm high; phyllaries strongly graduated, chartaceous with a rhombic, green tip; ray florets 16-21, pistillate, the ligules white, to 11 mm long; disc florets 10-17; pappus of numerous capillary bristles.
