Distribution
O léiMÁMy'i Plants of Ecuador Province Galápagos Islands Solanaceae Lycopersicon cheesmaniae L. Riley Ecuador: Province Galápagos. Santa Cruz Island: Escarpment. Where Academy Bay trail crosses the Escarpment plants mostly to N of trail. Population size: >200; Habitat: on the cliff and below in the rocks in many places; Most plants very large, some 15 feet across and ascending trees. Associated with Opuntia and spiny legume tree with red flowers. Extremely uniform population, all in flower and ripe fruit, the latter accurate in large numbers because not disturbed and jointlessness prevents fall. Saw no signs of rodents; severe infestation of mealy bug and scale nursed by fire ants. Spent 2 1/2 hrs in area and saw only 4 bees visiting tomatoes; much more active on Momordica. Elevation: 100 m.
