Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the road which connects the cities of Mosqueiro and Baia do Sol on Ilha Mosqueiro, Pará. Used the Google Maps - Earth View to find the cities of Mosqueiro and Baia do Sol on the island, and located the road which connects the two (note: this road is named Av. 16 do Novembro on Google Maps and named Av. Beira-Mar on Bing Maps). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the beginning of this road in the city of Mosqueiro (intersection of Av. 16 do Novembro and Rua 15 de Novembro on Google Maps) and the end of this road at Baia do Sol (where road ends), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along this road nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Google Maps - What's here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of the road. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this segment of road. Input coordinates, linear extent (9540.0 m), and measurement error (2.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
