    Guyana. Upper Mazaruni District, adjacent to eastern side of Eboropu Mountain, 2 ¼ miles upstream on Saydak Creek from its junction with the Kako river.

  • Habitat

    Alluvial flood plane rain forest with levée. Trees to 40 m. high (including a damanged emergent truncated at 40 m). Included were Mara gongrijpii, Eperua jenmanii, Lecythis & Eschweilera spp. Shrub layer including Miconia, Tococa, Psychotria & Duguetia spp. Field vegetation (to 2 m. high) sparse to moderate, inlcuding Diplazia karatifolia, Trichomanes pinnatum & Ischnosiphon, Olyra longifolia common on waterside. Seedling & supling trees abundent, to 75/sp. m., especially on levée.

  • Description

    Small shrub 6' high, spreading. Leaves very viscid, olive-green & slightly shiny adaxially, grey-green & matt abaxially. Calyx tube pale green with carmine hairs, segments carmine with small apical pale green patch. Petals white. berries very dark purple or black. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
