Especially valleys near streams. Damp forest. Very common.

Description
Shrub or tree, to 20 ft. high. Leaves, when bruised, have a very strong and disagreeable ordor. Flowers more or less through the year. Comm. F. D. Godman, F.R.S., March, 1890. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
