    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of Rio Tapajós in Pará, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Tapajós, a tributary of Rio Amazonas. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line beginning at the mouth of Rio Tapajós (where the river branches off from Rio Amazonas in Santarém) to the farthest extent of the river (where Rio Tapajós divides into Rio Juruena and Rio Teles Pires); halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of Rio Tapajós. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, along the adjacent shore nearby road BR-230. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Tapajós, 334208 m.), and measurement error (1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius. Site is located in município Itaituba.
