west of California Route 247 (Barstow Road), 1 mile
north of Lucerne Valley town center, south of road,
edge of private property adjoining flood control
right-of-way. Elevation about 2890 feet. Dark peaty
sand, wet, seepage slope, saturated with salts which
encrust surface; ancient spring upwelling forming dome
deposit.
Mojave Desert. Assemblage of desert springs species,
including Asclepias sp., Sidalcea neomexicana,
Deschampsia danthonioides, Distichlis spicata,
Plagiobothrys parishii, Juncus bufonius, Lepidium
dictyotum, Puccinellia parishii, Hesperochiron
califomicus, and the exotic Schismus barbatus,
Polypogon monspeliensis, Bromus tectorum, and red
brome. Frequent weedy annual grass.
