Station. Cultivated. Small clumps of 6-8 culms mixed
with other bamboos in shade of woods. Culms 3-4
m tall, ca. 1 cm diam., the new culms a shiny, glossy,
moss-green with a white powdery band at the summit of
the internode, mature culms smooth shiny, violet-
brown, solid with a pith. Branching: 3 equal branches
produced. Most plants flowering: inflorescences on
leafy branches in panicles.
