Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of Proj. RADAM and assumed the road mentioned in the locality description to be the road which connects the city of Porto Velho to Belmonte, in accordance with other locality descriptions. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic midpoint of the road which connects the city of Porto Velho to Belmonte in Rondônia, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Porto Velho - Belmonte road, Av. do Belmonte. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the start of this road (intersection of Av. do Belmonte and Av. Lauro Sodré) and the end of this road, then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along the road nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates along the road. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the road segment. Input coordinates, linear extent (8066.38 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
