Along Timberline Lodge road, near terminus, N of US Rt. 26, SW-facing slope of Mt. Hood (summit is at 11235 ft). At sharp bend in road downslope from lower parking area. Elev. ca. 5000 ft. West Cascade Range & Crest Ecoregion. Volcanic ash and gravel with humus. Dry slopes.
Montane conifer forest with Tsuga mertensiana, Abies amabilis. Occasional to locally common tufted grass on dry open slopes near road.
