Small tree (to 12 ft.) or sprawling shrub. Common in mountainside draws. Flowers yellow, with orange-like scent when crushed. Stems with widely spaced thorns. Dried seed pods to about 15 cm., laterally compressed. Flowers visited by a few honey bees and two birds: g£ereba. flaveola and Trochilus polytmus.
