W end of the SAN GABRIEL MTNS: southeriy slope off the main E/W divide about midway between WUson Canyon Saddle and May Canyon Saddle (draining to Wilson Canyon and Sylmar). San Fernando 1.5' USGS quadrangle; R15W T3N, W/3 SW/4 SE/4 section 10; elev. ca 3260 ft.
Dense chaparral on steep granitic slope, with occasional openings. Vegetation dominated by Ceanothus crassifolius, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Quercus wislizeni. Yucca whipplei caespitosa, Stipa coronata, Eriogonum fasciculatum foliolosum, etc.
Coarse, tufted perennial with culms ca 6-16 dm tall. Awns apparently twice-geniculate.
